Paul Saunders is a Founder and Principal of James River Capital Corp. and affiliated companies ("James River") and portfolio manager for James River's funds of hedge funds. He currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of James River Capital Corp. and James River Financial Corp. Paul joined Warburg Paribas Becker's Corporate Finance Department in 1979 and worked in the Commodity Department of A.G. Becker from 1980 to 1983. From 1983 to December 1994, he was Director of Managed Accounts and Commodity Funds at Kidder, Peabody & Co. ("Kidder"), and from 1986 until January 1995 he was President of KP Futures Management Corp., which became James River Capital Corp. in 1995. In 1989 he became a Managing Director of Kidder and a member of Kidder's Management Council. Upon acquisition of KP Futures Management Corp. in 1995, he became Chairman and CEO of James River Capital Corp. Paul received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1977 and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1979.
Kevin Brandt is a Founder and Principal of the James River Capital group of companies and currently serves as President of James River Capital Corp. and James River Financial Corp. From 1989 until January 1995, he was Senior Vice President of Kidder. Kevin joined Kidder in 1983 and was Assistant Director of Kidder's Managed Accounts and Commodity Funds from 1987 through December 1994. Prior to joining Kidder, he had been the co-founder of a legal research firm and had managed family real estate interests.
Laura McGrath is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for James River Capital Corp. and James River Financial Corp., and President and Chief Compliance Officer of James River Securities Corp., a FINRA-registered broker-dealer. She assists James River in securities and derivatives-related corporate and regulatory matters including operation of hedge funds and commodity pools, organization and operation of structured products, derivatives documentation, compliance and regulatory matters. Laura graduated from the University of Virginia in 1994 and received her J.D. from the University of Richmond in 1998. She is a Member of the Virginia State Bar Association.
Dieter Oelschlager is Director of Hedge Fund Investments. Dieter joined James River's proprietary futures trading group in 2000, assisting in research and trading. He moved to the FoHF group in 2006. In that capacity he sources and evaluates new investments, monitors existing investments, and handles operational functions. In addition to manager evaluation, Dieter also monitors macroeconomic factor variables that drive hedge fund strategies and assists in portfolio construction. Dieter received a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School at the University of Virginia with dual concentrations in Finance and Accounting.
Jim Hart is Director of Hedge Fund Research. Jim Hart first began working with James River in 2001 as a Research Analyst. In 2004 while at James River Jim was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. In 2007 Jim left James River to co-found Agecroft Partners, an alternative investments third party marketing firm, where he was Managing Director. He rejoined James River in 2011 as a Senior Research Analyst. Prior to working for James River, Jim was with NCA Financial from 1999-2001 and was a professional golfer from 1994-1998. Jim graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Science in 2001.
Randy Hagan currently serves as Vice-President, Institutional Marketing for James River Financial Corp. with responsibility for marketing James River's FoHF products. He began working with Paul Saunders and Kevin Brandt in 2000 in the evaluation and management of technology startup investments. In 2002 he switched his focus to James River's core hedge fund business and was Director of Marketing Administration until December, 2013 when he assumed his current responsibilities. His previous experience was as a senior manager in specialty manufacturing for 30 years with primary responsibilities in the development and marketing of new products. He is a 1967 graduate of the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard University in 1969.
Bob Eads is Controller and Chief Financial Officer of James River Financial Corp. and provides financial support for James River and affiliated companies. His responsibilities include oversight of all financial accounting activities. He worked in the Controller's division of Kidder from 1980 until he was hired by JRCC in 1995. At Kidder, Bob worked in several departments including Asset Management, Merchant Banking, High Yield Bond Trading, Public Finance and Municipal Bond Trading. Bob received his B.S. degree from Cornell University in 1980.
John Heitmuller has been with James River since 1995 and is the Director of Information Technology, providing MIS oversight and support to James River companies. From 1991 to 1994, he was employed by the Managed Futures Division of Kidder as a Programmer/Analyst. He holds a B.S. in Computer Networking, in addition to MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) and CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certifications.
